A Sound So Sweet


Have you ever heard 45 old voices come together in a spontaneous round of God Bless America? It is beautiful. And incredibly touching.

So touching! I'm always abashed my my grandmother's patriotism -- as patriotic as our generation may be, it seems like there is a different quality of patriotim among the elderly. An innocence? A hopefulness? Trust? I'm not sure, but it always gives me a catch in my throat.
